Gray Hair Dave:

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to another episode of Five Minutes with Gray Hair Dave.

Gray Hair Dave:

That's right.

Gray Hair Dave:

This time, no AI in the beginning, it's just me.

Gray Hair Dave:

I hope you're doing good today.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'm having a great day so far.

Gray Hair Dave:

I got a bunch of things done already.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'm pretty happy about that.

Gray Hair Dave:

I got to the grocery store, got a little bit of groceries for my tummy and then I also got my, my health insurance issues taken care of today because this is the last day of October.

Gray Hair Dave:

's the last day of October in:

Gray Hair Dave:

And I have until the first or something like that of December if I'm going to deal with it with the government, you know, Social Security, Medicare and all that kind of thing.

Gray Hair Dave:

Or I can elect to stay with my, excuse me, my company's insurance, which I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to, mainly because I am now a part time employee.

Gray Hair Dave:

But you have to have a certain amount of hours per year to be eligible for it.

Gray Hair Dave:

Because I was full time for the first, excuse me, for the first half of the year I'm eligible.

Gray Hair Dave:

I have enough hours built up that I'm fine.

Gray Hair Dave:

So I'm staying with my company's insurance and I'm using the COBRA for vision and dental, which is absolutely fine.

Gray Hair Dave:

I enjoy it.

Gray Hair Dave:

So just, you know, let you know that day, day is going to be okay over here.

Gray Hair Dave:

He's got, he's got insurance and that's important to me and it's, it should be important to you too.

Gray Hair Dave:

Medical expenses are just so high that it's, it's, it's, it's hard if you get taken to the hospital or you end up in the hospital.

Gray Hair Dave:

I did last year, when was it?

Gray Hair Dave:

This year?

Gray Hair Dave:

Last year?

Gray Hair Dave:

I'm sorry.

Gray Hair Dave:

It was last year and for three days and it was quite a bit of money.

Gray Hair Dave:

I mean, it's a lot.

Gray Hair Dave:

I thank goodness for insurance, you know, but anyway, how are you folks?

Gray Hair Dave:

I hope you're doing well here in the US it's five days till election, the presidential election.

Gray Hair Dave:

A lot of state and local elections, A lot of bills that want to be passed or don't want to be passed.

Gray Hair Dave:

There's flyers going everywhere.

Gray Hair Dave:

The print shops are.

Gray Hair Dave:

God, they got to be happy with all the printing that's going on.

Gray Hair Dave:

And it's, I'm happy for them for that, I really am because I, with the Internet now, I don't know how much, how much big business they get, you know, and I'm sure a lot of these campaigns and a lot of the people who want, you know, bills passed or not passed are, they're paying for it, they've got to pay for it, you know, and I'm happy that the businesses are getting finally their share of it.

Gray Hair Dave:

And it's unfortunate it's only every couple years locally or for certain elections and every four years for the major ones, you know, the president and things like that.

Gray Hair Dave:

In watching the little bit of the news I did just before this, before I started recording today, I started recording at noon on a Thursday and I'm a little late.

Gray Hair Dave:

I should have done it before the grocery store.

Gray Hair Dave:

But anyway, that's another story for another day.

Gray Hair Dave:

I was watching the news and the, the amount of crap that's being flung by one side against the other right now is amazing to me because the other side's reacting oppositely.

Gray Hair Dave:

They're taking that crap and turning it into something good, saying they, you know, this and that.

Gray Hair Dave:

It's, it's fun to watch to a point.

Gray Hair Dave:

I sat there for about six minutes and said, okay, that's it, I'm done.

Gray Hair Dave:

And then off went to tv.

Gray Hair Dave:

So, you know, it's, it's rough this time of year in the United States.

Gray Hair Dave:

I don't know what it's like in other countries.

Gray Hair Dave:

I would, I would like to hear about it.

Gray Hair Dave:

There are a few out there in other countries.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'd like to hear how your elections go.

Gray Hair Dave:

But if you could, why don't you send me a message at 5 minutes with gray haired Dave.

Gray Hair Dave:

That's the number 5 minutes with grayhairedave.com.

Gray Hair Dave:

let me know how your elections go or if they're anything like ours.

Gray Hair Dave:

Because I gotta believe ain't nobody doing the, some of the dumb stuff we're doing here in election time.

Gray Hair Dave:

I don't believe folks and trashing other people to get ahead.

Gray Hair Dave:

I have, it's happened to me before at work.

Gray Hair Dave:

Somebody wants my job or my position that I have earned and they will do everything they can to or did everything they could to get me taken out of that position so they could have it.

Gray Hair Dave:

I don't consider that person to be very honorable.

Gray Hair Dave:

I don't.

Gray Hair Dave:

And I believe that being honorable is extremely important in life.

Gray Hair Dave:

I've done a lot of things in my life that I may not be proud of and others around me may not have been happy that I did, but it's too late for that.

Gray Hair Dave:

I stand up and say that I've made mistakes, when I've made mistakes.

Gray Hair Dave:

But to go out and try and do what this person did to me.

Gray Hair Dave:

And it worked.

Gray Hair Dave:

It worked.

Gray Hair Dave:

And that person ended up leaving the company due to other situations.

Gray Hair Dave:

So, in essence, there is karma in my mind for this person, but I don't, don't believe that that's the best way to get ahead by taking somebody else down.

Gray Hair Dave:

You're the best way to get ahead in my view.

Gray Hair Dave:

And most baby boomers views and most people I know, you do a good job.

Gray Hair Dave:

You show the people ahead of you or above you that you're doing the good job, and that's how you get ahead.

Gray Hair Dave:

You do a little bit more than the person that's there now, or you do a little bit more than is expected of you in the job you're in now.

Gray Hair Dave:

And you go ahead and get noticed that way because, hey, look, Dave's over there and, oh, gray hair Dave over there.

Gray Hair Dave:

He's still trying.

Gray Hair Dave:

He's putting in the hours, he's doing the job and he's making it look good.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'm just saying that's the way to be in the world.

Gray Hair Dave:

Not this entitled.

Gray Hair Dave:

I gotta have your job because I think it's mine.

Gray Hair Dave:

And you have to listen to me because I think what I have to say is more important than what you do.

Gray Hair Dave:

So I will do everything I can do to shut you up so that you can't be heard.

Gray Hair Dave:

Fine, shut me up so I can't be heard.

Gray Hair Dave:

It doesn't mean I'm not going to go somewhere else and be heard.

Gray Hair Dave:

You know, I'm being heard right here.

Gray Hair Dave:

So there's that subject out of the way.

Gray Hair Dave:

I want to get that off my chest and I feel good about it again.

Gray Hair Dave:

Today didn't go exactly where I thought it was going to go.

Gray Hair Dave:

I.

Gray Hair Dave:

It never does, but I enjoy that.

Gray Hair Dave:

That's what I like about this show.

Gray Hair Dave:

Now, I did want to change subjects really quick, and I want to talk to you about Boomer Podcasters.

Gray Hair Dave:

Number two is out.

Gray Hair Dave:

The episode number two is out.

Gray Hair Dave:

This is one where I talk about Dawes, which are digital audio workstations, what they're used for, what they're good for and the different kinds that are out there.

Gray Hair Dave:

Did I name them all?

Gray Hair Dave:

Absolutely not.

Gray Hair Dave:

Did I give people advice on which way to go?

Gray Hair Dave:

I hope I did.

Gray Hair Dave:

If you're starting a podcast and you are on a budget, even if you aren't on a budget and you're starting a podcast and you're not sure if this is what you should be doing, why would you spend a lot of money on it?

Gray Hair Dave:

Why not?

Gray Hair Dave:

Start out with something free, right?

Gray Hair Dave:

There's free Dawes out there.

Gray Hair Dave:

Daws.

Gray Hair Dave:

I've talked about it yesterday.

Gray Hair Dave:

There's links in the, in the podcast notes yesterday at Boomer podcasters and boomer podcasters.com so this is all in conjunction with.

Gray Hair Dave:

Because boomerpodcasters.com as well as five minutes with gray hairedave.com all fall under my company's purview, Gray Hair Productions, LLC.

Gray Hair Dave:

Now, I'm not profiting yet from either one of these shows.

Gray Hair Dave:

If you're getting value out of this and you wanted to contribute and there's a way to go to the website and do it, which there is, which is coffee.

Gray Hair Dave:

Buy me a coffee.

Gray Hair Dave:

On the Five Minutes of Gray Hair Day website.

Gray Hair Dave:

I haven't done anything yet on the Boomer podcast because I haven't decided exactly how I want to go with that.

Gray Hair Dave:

I want to make it both a.

Gray Hair Dave:

A program that I can sell, but also a program that is going to be out there with, with videos so I can show people what I'm doing and then give the greater detail or more instruction on the paid version.

Gray Hair Dave:

So I told people yesterday to look out for my.

Gray Hair Dave:

My web.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'm sorry, my YouTube page for boomer Podcasters.

Gray Hair Dave:

And I want to make that page look better than I have in the past with other pages that I've made for podcasts that I've done.

Gray Hair Dave:

So just to see who's listening.

Gray Hair Dave:

If you have done something like that, you have created a YouTube page that looks really, really cool and it's for the videos, but it's also going to be.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'd like it.

Gray Hair Dave:

I don't know if the podcast can go on the same page or not with the static image, but eventually and quickly, it's all going to be video.

Gray Hair Dave:

When I do the.

Gray Hair Dave:

The recording for audio, that's something you know how to do and.

Gray Hair Dave:

Or you're starting out as a person who does those types of things.

Gray Hair Dave:

I want you to go to my website.

Gray Hair Dave:

5 minutes with grayhair Dave dot com.

Gray Hair Dave:

That's the number.

Gray Hair Dave:

5 minutes with grayhair Dave Dot com.

Gray Hair Dave:

Leave me a message in the Contact me page or on the little microphone.

Gray Hair Dave:

You click on it, you leave me your name and your email address.

Gray Hair Dave:

Let me know that's something you're interested in and you've done it before and we'll talk.

Gray Hair Dave:

This needs to happen soon.

Gray Hair Dave:

So if you're listening and it's something you know how to do or something you know somebody else knows how to do, have them contact me now.

Gray Hair Dave:

I make no guarantees.

Gray Hair Dave:

I also don't know how much I'm going to pay or I'm willing to pay for this when I can do some of the, I can do it myself, but I prefer to help other people out there doing these types of things when I can.

Gray Hair Dave:

So with all that said, don't forget the podcast website.

Gray Hair Dave:

5 minutes with grayhair Dave.com that's the number.

Gray Hair Dave:

5 minutes with grayhair Dave dot com and leave me a message.

Gray Hair Dave:

Folks, also, if you know somebody who doesn't know what a podcast is, doesn't know where to find them, doesn't know what kind of genres there are out there, doesn't know how to subscribe, follow or download, let them know for me.

Gray Hair Dave:

I'd appreciate that.

Gray Hair Dave:

Also folks, this is not a solicitation for people to work for me.

Gray Hair Dave:

This would be a one off situation, what I just talked about.

Gray Hair Dave:

And there's no guarantees I will be using that person.

Gray Hair Dave:

It's just an offer to say if you're interested, let me know.

Gray Hair Dave:

Let's talk about it.

Gray Hair Dave:

Okay?

Gray Hair Dave:

About the Podcast

5 Minutes With Grey Hair Dave
Wisdom, wit and Sarcasm from a Boomer
Well, it's me just being me.
Welcome to 5 Minutes with Gray Hair Dave!
Hello, everyone! I'm Gray Hair Dave, and I'm thrilled to introduce my new podcast, which will run for about 5 to 10 minutes each episode. I plan to share these episodes daily, despite my full-time job, so expect some flexibility in release times.
In this podcast, I'll be sharing my life experiences, having worked in various industries from paper mills to airlines, and even running a dance studio. I've also had my fair share of personal challenges, including two marriages that didn't work out, but that's life, and I'm here to share the wisdom I've gained.
I'm also excited to talk about my new venture, Boomer Podcasting, where I aim to teach fellow baby boomers and anyone interested in podcasting how to share their stories and leave a legacy.
This podcast isn't just for baby boomers, though. I welcome listeners of all generations to join in as I discuss life lessons, my new business, and a range of topics from family and friendships to music, TV shows, cars, technology, books, historical events, and even encounters with famous individuals.
I promise to keep the content upbeat and child-friendly, with no cursing or ranting. I've got a lot planned for the first 30 days and am open to more ideas. So, stay tuned for engaging stories, reflections on past decades, and discussions on holiday traditions.
Remember, this podcast is for everyone, and I want to show that anyone can podcast, even with just a phone. I'm looking forward to sharing more and hope you'll join me on this journey. Keep an eye out for my website, which will be up soon, and feel free to reach out with suggestions or just to say hi.
Thanks for listening, and I can't wait to connect with you all through my podcast, 5 Minutes with Gray Hair Dave. Spread the word, and let's enjoy this adventure together!
